Moonzia the moon searches for his best friend, ShinnyShine the shooting star. His search leads him to a dental office where he learns about dental hygiene and hopes to find a clue to his friend’s whereabouts.

Moonzia wasn’t like the other moons. He was extra fluffy, extra cuddly, and extra, extra worried. His best friend, ShinnyShine, a shooting star with a tail of shimmering stardust, had zoomed off on a new adventure, and Moonzia missed him terribly. Every night, he’d peek down from the sky, his round face searching the Earth for a glimpse of his sparkly friend.

Moonzia is sad

One night, while hovering over a particularly bright patch of lights, Moonzia spotted something unusual. A building with a giant tooth on top! It was a dental office. And… could it be? Yes! Tiny sparkles of stardust shimmered on some of the dentist’s tools. ShinnyShine had been here!

Moonzia found the dental office

Moonzia floated closer, his heart doing a little flip-flop. He’d never been this close to a building before. He was a little bit scared, but the thought of seeing ShinnyShine again gave him courage. He gently bumped against the window, then peeked inside.

A friendly-looking man in a white coat smiled at him. “Well, hello there, little moon!” he chuckled. “What brings you to my dental office?”

Moonzia in the dental office

Moonzia, being a very polite moon, explained his predicament. “I’m looking for my best friend, ShinnyShine,” he said. “He’s a shooting star with a sparkly tail. I saw some stardust on your tools, so I thought he might have been here.”

The dentist’s eyes twinkled. “Why, yes! ShinnyShine was here just a few days ago. He told me he was getting his teeth checked before a big race across the galaxy.”

Moonzia Talking to the dentist

Moonzia’s face lit up. “Do you know where he went?”

The dentist shook his head. “He zoomed off so fast, I couldn’t tell. But,” he added with a smile, “I can tell you all about his visit. He had the shiniest teeth I’ve ever seen!”

Moonzia was fascinated. He’d always been a little nervous about dentists. Back on the moon, they just polished their craters with moon dust. But the dentist was so kind. He showed Moonzia all the tools and explained how important it was to keep your teeth healthy, even if you were a shooting star. He even let Moonzia hold a tiny toothbrush!

Dentist teaching Moonzia about Teeth

The dentist taught Moonzia how to brush and floss, and he showed him pictures of healthy teeth and not-so-healthy teeth. Moonzia learned that even moons need to take care of their smiles! He realized that dentists weren’t scary at all; they were helpers!

Moonzia taking care of her teeth

After a long and interesting visit, Moonzia thanked the dentist and floated back outside. He was still a little sad that he hadn’t found ShinnyShine, but he wasn’t scared of dentists anymore, and he had learned a lot about keeping his own craters clean. He knew ShinnyShine was out there somewhere, and now Moonzia had a new mission: to keep his own smile sparkling while he searched for his best friend. He looked up at the night sky, a little brighter now that he knew how to care for his teeth, and whispered,

“I’ll find you, ShinnyShine! And when I do, we’ll have the shiniest smiles in the whole universe!”
